As guests for upcoming Sydney Festival, Mona Foma and the NGV Friday Nights at Jean Paul Gaultier… this two piece blasted from the Buenos Aires digital cumbia scene before relocation to Mexico City. Rafa and Lisandro “funnel Latin rhythms through webs of futuristic synths and otherworldly FX” in a freaking collision of dancehall, hip hop, baile funk, cumbia, dub, house, kuduro, electro, techno… “resulting in adventurous hybrids that rarely take their eye off the dancefloor”.
Frikstailers (pronounced ‘freak-stylers’) rose from the eclectic Buenos Aires cumbia scene, turning the genre on its head with their unique style. Releasing their first LP En Son De Paz in late 2013, it waschosen as one of the top 10 albums of Latin indie music by the prestigious Spanish newspaper El Pais and will be available locally on Valve/MGM.
